ABOUT US
Our mission thrives on three core pillars: biodiversity, native species, and community integration.
Biodiversity underscores our commitment to ecosystem restoration, while the use of native species ensures ecological balance. Community integration fosters collaboration and ownership, vital for sustainable landscapes
What we do
At Terra Forest we have a simple mission: we want to plant trees and create new spaces for biodiversity. The decarbonization of the atmosphere is an issue that cannot wait and needs the highest attention to avoid a climate disaster. This is why we want to offer our clients and partners different services related to the development of forestry projects in Colombia. Our commitment is to contribute to a sustainable future, preserve the environment and work together with the local communities.
We have an approach far away from monocultures or traditional forestry projects. A part of our team developed the first biodiversity bank of South America, located in the Orinoquia region in Colombia, and all of us started planting native trees 20 years ago.

International expertise
Our team is divided in Colombia and Germany, where we have a vast network of ARR and monitoring experts as well as potential investors. We are glad to say that we have been selected as one of the ventures participating in the Start-up competition of “Business Ideas for Development” (BID)” of the GIZ on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

How we do it
At our reforestation company, we believe that true impact goes beyond just planting trees. It’s about understanding the right species to plant in the right places, nurturing each tree with care, and ensuring that they thrive in harmony with their ecosystem.
Our focus is on biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and creating high-quality projects that stand the test of time. We work hand-in-hand with local communities, combining their knowledge with our expertise, to make sure that every step of the process is sustainable and beneficial to the people and the land. Transparency is at the heart of what we do—we provide clear, honest updates on the progress of our projects, so you can see the real difference your support is making.
Although we are a new company we bring know-how from previous experiences doing projects for companies like HP or DirecTv in Colombia; or scouting for high-quality ARR projects worldwide for a MunichRe Venture in Germany.

FAQ
Why native species?
Planting native species is vital for supporting local biodiversity, as they provide habitat and food for wildlife. They are well-adapted to the local environment, requiring less maintenance and contributing to ecosystem health by improving soil, controlling erosion, and supporting pollinators. Additionally, native plants help preserve cultural heritage and prevent the spread of invasive species, ensuring ecological balance and sustainability.
Why Colombia?
Planting in Colombia is crucial for preserving its rich biodiversity and combating deforestation. As a team of German and Colombian entrepreneurs with extensive experience in reforestation, we leverage our strong network of local tree-planting partners to make a meaningful impact. Our collaboration combines international expertise with deep local knowledge, enabling us to restore vital ecosystems, support sustainable development, and contribute to global climate goals. Together, we can ensure Colombia’s forests thrive for future generations.
How do we choose the species?
We select native species for reforestation based on the specific ecological conditions of each zone, drawing from previous experiences to ensure success. We prioritize species with high ecological value that support local biodiversity, and we focus on those with proven high survival rates to maximize the impact of our efforts. Our approach is tailored to each area, ensuring the right species thrive in the right environment, contributing to sustainable reforestation and ecosystem restoration.
Do the trees achieve maturity?
We ensure the survival of our planted trees through careful species selection, choosing those best suited to the local environment. Our experienced team and partners monitor tree health regularly, addressing any issues early. We implement sustainable land management practices, such as soil improvement and protection against pests and diseases, to create favorable growing conditions. Additionally, we engage local communities in the process, fostering a sense of ownership and long-term care for the reforested areas, ensuring the trees thrive for years to come.
How do monitor the growth?
We are partnering with the German company Treeo to measure the carbon sequestration of each tree at one-year intervals. This gives us reliable information, stored in the cloud, to prove carbon sequestration and avoid reputational risks. A carbon curve is calculated based on literature and verified with the actual data of the growing trees.
How do we monitor biodiversity?
Using camera traps, we have already captured and documented several species visiting the project. We are currently in discussions with various bioacoustics companies to further monitor biodiversity on our projects.
