Description
Cecropia membranacea is a tree species that grows well in silvopastoral systems (a type of agroforestry that combines trees with livestock grazing). It is native to the Neotropics. As a pioneer species, it likely plays a role in forest regeneration and succession and contributes to tree diversity in silvopastoral systems. The fruits serve as food for frugivorous birds such as tanagers, euphonias, and toucanets. It also retains arthropods in leaves and bark that are consumed by insectivorous birds-
